We held our annual summer fete fundraiser for our resident’s amenity fund on Saturday 14th July. With plenty of family friendly fun and live music to keep the crowd entertained for a sunny afternoon in July, with even a couple of miniature Donkeys on site thrown in for good measure, they proved a great hit with the staff, residents, children and adults alike. As the donkeys are fully vetted they were even able to join some of our residents whom preferred to stay inside in the TV lounge for a spot of petting, so everyone had the chance to spend some time with them, with Sharon the home manager on hand with a bucket just in case as ‘incidents’ happen, luckily the bucket was not needed!

Along with the donkeys we held a BBQ and bar in the newly refurbished courtyard with the meat supplied by our local butcher, a raffle with 3 top prizes, £50 in cash, a luxury hamper and a bottle of champagne with many other prizes kindly donated by local businesses and our suppliers, a tombola stocked full of prizes to be won – from sweets and toys for the kids to bottles of wine for the adults. The cake stall proved a big hit with everybody, as it was full of delicious home made cakes and cupcakes that were supplied by friends of the home, no cake was wasted! The bottle stall that had a first prize of a bottle of champagne all the way down to top branded mayonnaise! Our very own Adam performed tarot card and rune readings to add to the entertainment, as well as a few games for people to have a go at from hook a duck, slam dunk, splat the rat and guess the name of the teddy, which has now found itself a loving new home courtesy of the lucky winner. The bouncy castle kept the kids entertained as well as a few adults! And live music was performed by local singer Megan King.

The weather was kind to us as the rain cleared up just in time for the start of the fete as people began to arrive and held off just long enough to give us some sunshine to enjoy. The local reverend James Stewart popped down to say his hellos as well as the fete being attended by residents and their families, local people, staff and their friends. The fete proved to be a great success and we have managed to raise just over £850.00 to spend on our lovely residents and plans are already being made to treat them to days out later in the year as well as many other activities inside the home.

All the staff and residents would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who donated prizes, gave up their own time to help on the day, as well as those who supplied the cakes and the British Legion for being kind enough to lend us their tables for the day, and to everyone who continues to support us here at Broadland View, it is extremely appreciated.
